Research Visit in Beijing on Branching Bisimulation and Collaboration
A follow-up visit at the Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences, where discussions on behavioural equivalence and efficient bisimulation reduction grew into a concrete collaboration connected to the MISSION workshop at ETAPS 2026.

Key points
A short piece on the assumptions, modeling choices, and practical relevance behind this topic.
- At ISCAS, I worked closely with David N. Jansen on behavioural equivalence and efficient algorithms for bisimulation reduction.
- Discussions with Jan Friso Groote, Full Professor and Chair of the Formal Systems Analysis group at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), helped refine several aspects of the work and connected the visit to recent branching-bisimulation research, including optimizations based on lazy data structures.
- The collaboration led to work on 'A Lazy Data Structure to Accelerate a Recent Algorithm for Branching Bisimulation', which appears in the MISSION workshop programme at ETAPS 2026, even though the public programme pages list only David N. Jansen and Jan Friso Groote as authors.
